Fun with NEOS Kids, and adults alike, can try out our American game which will bring loads of thrills. The Community Safety Partnership has bought a £25,000 NEOS full size interactive gaming system with the aim of it helping to reduce anti-social behaviour whilst providing hours of fun for youth in North East Derbyshire. The system was developed in the US to tackle childhood obesity. The NEOS was launched on Friday 4th April, 2008 at the Henry Fanshawe Secondary School in Dronfield. The pupils were very excited and could not wait their turn to have a go. The responses and feedback from the pupils were excellent as they thought the system was "fantastic", “well good” and “awesome”. One student was quoted as saying, "I really, really, really, really, really, really love it." Chair of the NEDCSP, Cllr Peter Riggott said: “We are always looking for new and different ways of engaging with the communities and helping people to lead active and healthier lives. We also know that anti-social behaviour is a problem in some areas and believe the NEOS will play an important role in diverting people away from negative activities… …Were also very pleased that the game will be used by our partner organisation such as schools and health bodies.” You can see a short video on the launch of the NEOS on the Your Space pages on North East Derbyshire District website.
