Oz Box hits NE Derbyshire

A pioneering police scheme designed to get young people off the streets is coming to NEDDC’s leisure centres – and staff can sign up too!

The boxing-based fitness programme, called ‘Oz Box’ has been a big hit since it was launched in the county five years ago by Chesterfield officer, Detective Inspector Steve Osbaldeston.
Now the Council has teamed up with Derbyshire Police to run free sessions at Sharley Park and Killamarsh leisure centres during August and September.
The initiative is aimed at 11 to 19 year-olds and is designed to reduce anti-social behaviour.
But NEDDC employees are also invited to come along – and also have the chance to become a trainer to lead these sessions in the future.

Weekly sessions are also run at the gym at Chesterfield Police Station, off Markham Road, that everyone is welcome to attend:
  • Tuesdays 5.30pm to 6.45pm - general traning session
  • Wednesdays and Fridays 5.30pm to 6.45pm - a session for more dedicated boxers

For more information about these sessions see the leaflet below, or to find out more about the scheme generally contact Sgt Jon Rawlinson on ext. 7671
